How do I add
figures to figures to my
publicationspublication pages?
At the moment, it is only possible to add figures to Articles and Conference papers you've added some publication types on ResearchGate. In the future, it will also be possible for all other publication types.
There are different ways to add figures to your articles depending on whether they already have figures or not.
If your article doesn't have any figures:

1. Go to the article you wish
Here are the types you can add figures to:
- Articles
- Books
- Chapters
- Conference papers
- Patents
- Research proposals
- Technical reports
- Theses
Here's how you add figures to a publication page that doesn't have figures yet:
- Go to the publication page you want to add figures to
2. Underneath the title, you'll find a box telling you if various elements are missing from your publication3. Click on the icon for Figures4. Click the Upload figures button 5. Find - Click the More button on the right side of the page and click Add figures from the drop-down menu
- Click on the Upload figures button and select the file you would like to add
to your article 6. - (we accept *.jpg, *.gif, *.png, *.tiff, and *.bmp formats)
- Add a caption with a short explanation
(minimum 31 characters) - of the figure you just added, then
click - click Done
7. You will now see a preview of your figure and caption. 8. If - If you wish to add more figures, simply
click Upload - click Upload Figures in the top left-hand corner of the
box- page
9. Once - Once you are done adding figures, simply click
the - the X icon in the top right-hand corner of your screen.
We accept the following media file formats: *.jpg, *.gif, *.png, *.tiff, and *.bmp.
If your article If your publication already has figures added and you would like to add more:1. Click
- Go to the publication page you want to add figures to
- Either click on any
figure2. Click the Upload Figures button that appears on the top left-hand side3. Find - existing figure or click the More button on the right side of the page and click Edit figures from the drop-down menu
- Click on the Upload figures button and select the file you would like to add
as a figure4. - (we accept *.jpg, *.gif, *.png, *.tiff, and *.bmp formats)
- Add a caption with a short explanation of the figure you just added, then
click - click Done
5. You will now see a preview of your figure and caption6. - If you wish to add more figures, simply
click Upload Figures again7. If you have no more figures to add, simply click the X icon - click Upload Figures in the top left-hand corner of the page
- Once you are done adding figures, simply click the X icon in the top right-hand corner of your screen.
We accept the following media file formats: *.jpg, *.gif, *.png, *.tiff, and *.bmp.Note: You must always ensure that you have the right to publicly share any figures before doing so.

1. Go to the article which contains the figures you want to edit2. - Go to the publication page
- Click on the figure you want to change, edit or delete
3. - Click the blue edit icon in the shape of a pencil
. You can find it next to the blue Like button4. If you want to - To replace the figure,
click Replace Image - click Replace Image in the bottom left-hand corner and select the file you want to replace it with
. Then click - , then click Done
5. - If you just want to edit the caption, simply click in the caption box and edit the text, then
click - click Done
6. - To delete the entire figure including the caption, select
Delete Figure and confirm by clicking Yes.
