How do I add

figures to

figures to my

publications

publication pages?

At the moment, it is only possible to add figures to articles you've added some publication types on ResearchGate. In the future, it will also be possible for all other publication types.

There are different ways to add figures to your articles depending on whether they already have figures added or not.

If your article doesn't already have any figures added:
1. Go to the article you wish to add figures to
2. At the bottom of the page, above the space where researchers can leave comments, you'll find a box telling you if various elements are missing from your publication
3. Click on the icon for Figures
4. Click the Add figures button
5. Find and select the file or files you would like to add to your article
6.


Here are the types you can add figures to:

  • Articles
  • Books
  • Chapters
  • Conference papers
  • Patents
  • Research proposals
  • Technical reports
  • Theses


Here's how you add figures to a publication page that doesn't have figures yet: 

  1. Go to the publication page you want to add figures to
  2. Click the More button on the right side of the page and click Add figures from the drop-down menu
  3. Click on the Upload figures button and select the file you would like to add (we accept *.jpg, *.gif, *.png, *.tiff, and *.bmp formats)
  4. Add a caption with a short explanation of the figure you just added, then
click
  1. click Done
7. You will now see a preview of your figure and caption.
8. If
  1.  If you wish to add more figures, simply
click Upload
  1. click Upload Figures in the top left-hand corner of the
box
  1. page
9. Once
  1.  Once you are done adding figures, simply click
the
  1. the X icon in the top right-hand corner of your screen.



If your article publication already has figures added and you would like to add more:1. Click the blue Figures link at the very top of the page alongside links to other content such as citations and references
2. Click the Upload Figures button that appears on the top left-hand side
3. Find

  1. Go to the publication page you want to add figures to
  2. Either click on any existing figure or click the More button on the right side of the page and click Edit figures from the drop-down menu
  3. Click on the Upload figures button and select the file you would like to add
as a figure
4.
  1. (we accept *.jpg, *.gif, *.png, *.tiff, and *.bmp formats)
  2. Add a caption with a short explanation of the figure you just added, then
click
  1. click Done
5. You will now see a preview of your figure and caption

  1. If you wish to add more figures, simply
click Upload Figures again
7. If you have no more figures to add, simply click the icon
  1. click Upload Figures in the top left-hand corner of the page
  2. Once you are done adding figures, simply click the X icon in the top right-hand corner of your screen.

Note: You must always ensure that you have the right to publicly share any figures before doing so.


How do I change, edit, or delete figures

that have already been added to my articles?1.

  1. Go to the
article you wish to add figures to
2. Click the blue figures link at the very top of the page alongside links to other content such as citations and references

  2. Click on the figure you want to change, edit or delete
  3. Click the blue edit icon in the shape of a pencil
. You can find it next to the blue Like button
4. If you want to
  1. To replace the figure,
click Replace Image
  1. click Replace Image in the bottom left-hand corner and select the file you want to replace it with
. Then click
  1. , then click Done

  1. If you just want to edit the caption, simply click in the caption box and edit the text, then
click
  1. click Done
6.
  1. To delete the entire figure including the caption, select
Delete Figure and confirm by clicking the red Yes button
  1. the pencil icon to the right of the figure, select Delete figure and confirm by clicking Yes.
